Starting college can be a jarring experience. IKEA wanted to make young people venturing out for the first time feel at home in a way that speaks authentically to Gen Z. To do so, We created an homage to the anime sub-genre “slice of life”, known for its portrayal of the beauty in everyday moments, typically through incredibly soothing scenes of people going about their days. Marrying those principles with IKEA's own values (making people's everyday lives better) lays the groundwork for a series of films set in different kinds of student housing, featuring all kinds of IKEA products and how they can help a new place like college feel just like home.
